Gatineau Park is the conservation park in the National Capital Region. Nicknamed the green lung of Outaouais, it extends over more than 361 square kilometers and is home to a rich and unique biodiversity. The trip from Ottawa to the park is an experience that will allow you to discover its natural beauty.
The course includes a gradual climb as you get away from Ottawa and closer to the hills of the park.
Once at the entrance of the park, you will be greeted by beautiful wooded landscapes and winding roads. Along the way, you will have the chance to enjoy superb views of the hills, lakes and surrounding landscapes. The gazebos and rest areas are ideal for taking a break.
Once you've explored the park and enjoyed its beautiful scenery, you can return to Ottawa following the same itinerary in reverse. The descent will allow you to enjoy a nice feeling of speed and return to the ByWard Market, where the temptation for a small bite will certainly be felt.
As it is a loop, the starting and ending point will be at the same location.
The ByWard Market is a historic and lively neighborhood located in downtown Ottawa and is one of the city's top tourist attractions. It is renowned for its dynamic atmosphere and its unique blend of shops, restaurants, cafes, fresh fruits and vegetables, and local artisans.
The vibrant neighborhood is a central location and a well-known landmark that is easily accessible from many parts of Ottawa, making it ideal to start your itinerary.
The ByWard Market is full of coffee and pastry shops that can certainly be used to fuel up! All you have to do is choose which one.
We particularly like the small restaurant & café Lollo which is located very close to the ByWard Market.
The walks are accessible to cyclists and pedestrians only during the following days of the week:
*On Saturday and Sunday, from May 20 to August 27, the shuttle runs on a portion of the walks from 9 am.
