Cycle along the shores of Lake Massawippi, enjoy the fresh air and the scent of vacation. This 50-kilometer loop offers good challenges for the legs and passes through typical pretty villages of the Eastern Townships such as Ayer's Cliff and North Hatley, two small jewels.

This fairly demanding outing on a hilly road offers magnificent views, sometimes on Lake Massawippi, on the undulating plains or on Mount Orford. It's the ideal outing with a picnic stop at the water's edge, a cappuccino break in one of the friendliest cafes and bistros along the way.

We suggest starting your day in downtown Magog, where you will find free parking without difficulty. A place we particularly like is the Giant Magog store, at 744 Main Street W, Magog, QC J1X 2B3. This bike shop is superb, the coffee excellent and the team really welcoming! The location will allow you to quickly enter the Tour of Lake Massawippi course and enjoy the beautiful views of the lake, from the start of your ride with a false flat that runs away from the city — The perfect warm-up!

The city of Magog is lively and full of amenities for cyclists. You'll find bike shops and workshops, cafes, and restaurants on every corner. It is therefore easy to plan your supplies before starting the course.

A coffee, a pastry or an ice cream is a must! For smaller stops, plan them either in Ayer's Cliff or North Hatlhey.

  • One of the mappa team's favourite café-restaurant is located in Magog on Main Street East and is called: La Shop. To die for grilled cheese, coffees that warm the soul and an atmosphere that makes you unwind... Everything is made with love without exception! This must-see is 5 minutes from the finish and is right on the course.
  • Massawippi Mercantile Coffee — small cozy café & at the same time a mini community market in the heart of North Hatley. Le Merc, as locals affectionately call it, offers delicious, simple, seasonal, and local bites and drinks, as well as a thoughtful selection of sustainable, locally sourced products. From the hip yogurt bowl, avocado toast and smoked salmon to the pastries and pancakes, it's a real must and coffee favourite.
  • Finally, you could take the time to end your day at the Cherry River Distillery for a small tasting and visit of the facilities, all in the majestic setting of an ancient church with more than 150 years of history.

In Ayers Cliff, just off Tyler Street, and in North Hatley, right in De La Rivière Park, it is possible to branch off the course to get to a BiciBorne bike repair station equipped with an air pump and multiple tools protected from the weather. These will independently enhance your journey should there ever be a glitch.
